Welcome to Enrollment Management

We offer students exceptional opportunities to obtain a high quality education built on solid academic and career programs in a supportive and challenging environment. Our instructional programs are through and relevant. Moreover, we offer a broad spectrum of instructional options in academic, professional-technical and community programs. The quality of our product—your educational opportunities—is nationally recognized. Our faculty and staff  lend their expertise to the social, economic, government, business and educational issues that matter most—they truly cherish the learning process. We do our best to help our students succeed and grow intellectually, socially, and physically. At the same time, we ask students to take responsibility for their own education and to take advantage of their opportunities here, both in and outside classrooms.

Our Mission

The Enrollment Management department informs our community about the various educational opportunities at Lawson State Community College and fosters professional working relationships with local schools, businesses, and industries.

Community College Rankings

Lawson State Community College was named one of the top community colleges in the nation in the 2013 Washington Monthly College Rankings. Lawson State ranked fifth in the publication's Best Community Colleges category. More than 700 institutions were included in the rankings, and Lawson State was the only community college in Alabama to rank in the top 50. This is not the only significant recognition that Lawson State has received in recent years. In September of 2011, Lawson State was recognized by the White House for being a "Champion of Change" in an effort to create an educated workforce for the community. The school was recognized for its training of low-income and minority students in 21st century jobs, including compressed natural gas and maintenance and inspections of alternative-powered vehicles. Lawson State was also named one of the nation's Military Friendly Schools for 2013 in an annual guide published by militaryfriendlyschools.com.

What We Do

The Enrollment Specialists interact with the community through high school visits, college and career fairs, parent nights, business and community events, meetings, and coordinated campus visits. Some of their responsibilities include meeting regularly with high school students and counselors to ensure they have the resources and support needed for those who enroll here, providing schools and businesses with the latest information about the resources and programs offered by Lawson State, conducting information sessions about special programs we offer like our Concurrent Enrollment and Dual Enrollment programs, and leading campus tours for prospective students who want to see Lawson State’s facilities.

Enrollment Specialists are available for speaking engagements or to provide expertise on a variety of career and educational related topics. School teachers, counselors or other interested persons who would like someone to speak to their class or group may request a speaker through the Enrollment Management Office. The Enrollment Specialists visit assigned high schools to develop personal relationships with their educational peers. If your school is not listed, please contact one of the recruiters.
